Known as the ‘Gypsy King’ of figure skating, Ivan Righini’s story is one of dual-specialty. He first built a global reputation as a powerhouse competitor, becoming a four-time Italian National Champion. He is recognized worldwide for his unique skating skills, powerful performance, and captivating characterization. This athletic career translated into a prolific performance career, headlining international tours like “Art On Ice” and sharing the stage with artists like James Blunt, Melanie C, Aloe Blacc, and Emeli Sande.
But Ivan’s vision extends beyond his own performance. Uniquely, he is also a graduate of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) , in addition to the Moscow State Academy of Physical Education. This formal education in theatrical arts, combined with his elite athletic knowledge, forms the foundation of his unique choreography.
Today, he is a well-recognized and respected coach and choreographer, a specialty that earned him a nomination for the prestigious ISU ‘Best Choreographer’ Award. He translates his dual-experience as both athlete and artist into winning programs for Olympic, World, European, and National champions. Including athletes like Sofia Samodurova, Mikhail Shaidorov, Ekaterina Kurakova, Haein Lee, Kimmy Repond, Vladimir Samoilov, and many, many more. His story is about bridging the gap between high-difficulty technical elements and powerful, authentic storytelling on the ice.
